Vacancy: Youth Worker

We welcome up to 1000 visits from young people every week! Our youth work programme offers space, voice and time for young people to discover their passion and their purpose, 6 nights a week and all-day Saturday.

Given the numbers we are engaging, we are looking to strengthen and grow our team of Youth Workers. Youth workers are at the heart of our offer, holding space to build positive and lasting relationships with young people and delivering high quality activities and projects to enhance their personal, social and educational development.

The hours available currently vary from 3 hours per week (12 session) up to 21 hours per week across evening and weekend Youth Clubs. We also have vacancies within our bank staff workforce which provide more adhoc contributions for cover or during peak periods such as school holidays.

You can read more about joining Team CYZ here.

The Youth Worker job specification can be accessed here.

We recognise that a diversity of people, interests, skills and experience brings considerable strength to our team and youth offer. We work as a collective team of Youth Workers here at CYZ (we all contribute to the whole) whilst also harnessing individuals skills and interests. For this recruitment round, alongside welcoming all interest and applications, we are especially keen to hear from people who:

  • Enjoy convening big groups – our work at CYZ varies from supporting 1:1, delivering focused activities with groups of 15 to 20, and convening space and activities for bigger groups of 30 young people plus. If you enjoy convening large groups of young people for fun and activities, we’d love to hear from you
  • Have skills in and enthusiasm for high energy activities – our Junior Club members love to take part in team challenges, multi-sport activities and lots of fun and games! Our Senior Club members love a mass karaoke session and a pumping Neon party. If you are someone who can bring and match this energy, we’d love to hear from you!
  • Have knowledge and skills in digital / media creativity – for example young people are keen to explore podcasts, want to have a go at digital animation, and are asking us to install a green wall for digital media (plus much more!). If you have interests and skills in these areas and are up for uniting those with a youth work approach, we’d love to hear from you!
