Water company United Utilities has forked out £1,000 to help fund hundreds of breakfasts and lunches for youngsters attending Carlisle Youth Zone’s Summer Holiday Club.
The donation will allow youth workers to feed hungry young people for free for a week – no matter what their family’s financial circumstances.
It is ‘payback’ for the disruption caused near the club as the company replaced water pipes.
Fiona Fergus, business support manager for the Youth Zone said more than 550 young people attended the five week holiday club during last year’s summer holidays.
