Cumbria Youth Co-Research Collective

We are part of a new Youth Co-research Collective in Cumbria! We are coming together as young people (12 – 17yrs), peer youth leaders (18 – 21yrs), established Youth Co-researchers and adults in Youth Worker and Academic roles.

We are coming together to build our confidence and skills in research. We think this is important because research happens every day but doesn’t always include us! This is especially true when research is about young people and through this project, we hope to disrupt this pattern. We share a belief that research about young people should start with young people.

And we’ve made a start! Our journey has so far brought together 6 young people (12-18yrs), 2 x youth workers, 2 x established youth co-researchers and 1 x academic. We’ve already shared lots of learning and identified 6 research themes we would want to explore in order to change things for the better. And we’ve written a BLOG to share our learning so far with a wider audience. You can ready it HERE

What next? We’d love more young people and youth workers from across Cumbria to join us, and we are getting together again on Saturday 22nd March from 11 – 4pm for another ‘Get Research Ready With Me’ workshop. If you are interested or know someone who is, please do be in touch! You can download our poster for the event HERE
